The silver ferrules make Select™ as beautiful to look at as it is to paint with. Princeton Select brushes are short-handled.
The creation of a quality paintbrush involves skills perfected over centuries. Although some of the processes have become more automated over time. Still many aspects of a brush are created by hand. Brush makers hand ‘cup’ the hair to shape. Each strand falls into place, thus giving the brush its fine tapered point or a clean, straight edge. The makers of Princeton Select brushes handcraft and test each brush thus ensuring beautiful consistent performance.
The Princeton Select line of brushes goes beyond the basic brush shapes and sizes that make up the artist's arsenal. Joining the usual Rounds, Filberts, Flats, Chisel Blenders, and Liners are exciting technique brushes that include Lunar Blender and Filbert Grainers.
Brush sizes vary by manufacturer and may be labeled based on the width of the hair, such as a ¼” angle or a general size, such as a #6 round. Using an appropriately sized brush head will save painting time and premature wear. Use of smaller size brushes, below size 4, are usually for detail work, medium sizes, 4 to 6, are for small areas, and large size brushes, above size 6, are for broad spaces.
